4 August 2009

Hallelujah...arrived safe and sound into good 'ol Penang. It was good to see familiar surroundings. My brother in law, Chong Khing, fetched me from the airport at 4.30pm, right on schedule. The checked in baggage didn't have any problems getting through customs. Went to mom's house to put away my baggage and then I freshened up a little and head off to the hospital to see mom. She was wheeled out of surgery at 4.30pm and the area around her knee is still numb from the anesthesia administered.

Mom looks good, not pale or tired. She was in the 3rd class ward on the 2nd floor and surrounding area doesn't look too shabby, quite clean but somewhat noisy. Doc said she's not supposed to walk for the next 2 days and they'll give her the green light when the timing is right.

Visiting hours is 12-1pm and 5-7pm daily. Chong Khing's parents, sister and nephew came along to visit mom too and we all left the hospital at 7pm to go for dinner at Chok Dee Thai Restaurant located at Burmah Road.

I sat in dad's car and accompanied him to Chok Dee and almost met with an accident coz dad turned into a one way street from Loh Boon Siew Road with oncoming cars honking away at us. That frightened the heck out of me and I just buried my face in my hands for fear of what is to come in case those cars don't stop on time. Thank goodness, they did and we arrived at Chok Dee in 1 piece.

Had a nice meal with Dad, Chong Khing, Hoon and her in laws. Thai food never tasted so good...
