Hello again. Are you ready for more tennis news? Well, today's my 2nd District match playing against La Cantera. There was quite a foul-up on the line-ups as our 3rd doubles combination of Max/Judy almost got changed to Al/Judy as Max was stuck in a traffic jam. But, the USTA was kind enough to wait till 12pm for Max to show up. If, by 12pm he doesn't, Al will have to sub for Max and partner Judy. It was literally looking at the clock ticking as Al kept calling Max to find out his whereabouts and whether he's outside at the gate. Well, at 11.55am, Al had to turn in his line-ups and he took the chance that Max will arrive by 12pm and phew! he did. That was a really close call. Anyway, Judy/Max won their match today 6-3, 6-2 while Rudy and me won our match 6-3, 6-4.
In the 1st set, we were down 1-3 but somehow, managed to crawl our way back to win the set 6-3. In the 2nd, a repeat of the 1st except this time, a bigger hole as we were down 1-4 before coming back to take the 2nd set, 6-4. And again, all credit to Rudy for changing the gear on his game and winning those critical points when it mattered most. For me, there were 2 fluke shots that were winners, 1 winning volley shot, 1 down the line shot and nothing great after that. But, I am quite happy that I managed to return a few balls today and my serves were ok (not great yet), had 1 double fault and 1 foot fault called by the official who scared the heck out of me with his stare. If only looks could kill, he would've killed me on the spot. But, I didn't let the official intimidate me and held serve at the point when he was standing there observing the game. Overall, I am quite happy with the outcome.
Our team won 3-0 today so, whoo hoo! Good teamwork and I am glad we made it through. Good job to Shawn/Michelle for taking the super tie 10-6. Tomorrow will be another day @ 4pm. I need more prayers coz I heard the team is the toughest one on the line up. Wish me luck. Gotta continue to have faith in the Lord. God is good, as always...
