May Updates

Well, time flies doesn't it and before we know it, half a year's gone before our very eyes. May was a month of ups and downs. For starters, it's a month when Sam's bowling goes "walkabout" and with lack of confidence, she did not do very well at the Piala Remaja again. This time, she came in 6th and did not qualify for the stepladder finals. Now, you may ask, "Why the lack of confidence?" Well, for starters, we have decided that just using power alone to bowl is not good enough coz she needs to learn how to roll (or rev) the ball in order to get in the strikes coz at this level of competition for under 16's, just sparing is not good enough. Plus with the two new balls she acquired since Nov 06, she has been adjusting to it (still? yes, still) and is struggling to get her lines with it. As with all changes, the game will drop before it goes up again. I am however, confident that what comes down will eventually goes up so, it is a matter of time before she gets back her form and confidence. As it is, it stands at an all time low for now. Hopefully, with more practices in rolling the ball, she will get the hang of it and we will definitely update you all when the good times rolls in again. Do pray for Sam to have the patience and particularly for me to be likewise too coz as parents, we tend to pressure and wants instantaneous results and I am definitely a culprit in that category. For now, I have promised Sam that I will not scold her again after any tournament (we just came back from Ipoh circuit held from 25-27 May 07 where she got into the 2nd round but did not make finals) and is willing to spend time and effort to develop that "roll" till she gets it. Frankly, don't know how long it will take but if that's what I have to do (have patience that is) in order to develop her game, I guess I just have to do it!!!

Ed's away in USA as I write this. He will be back only on 2 June and that's when Sam will be participating in the Sukan Pulau Pinang (Sukpen) at Megamall, Prai from 2-3 June 2007. This will be her last tournament and until and unless she is ready to get her confidence and her "rev" going, we will not be participating in anymore tourneys. Only practice, practice, practice....

Next on our list is Sam's baptism. She has decided to finally take the bold step in faith and declare to the world that she's now a new creation (2 Cor 5:17). We have enclosed herewith the slide show on her baptism of 20 May 2007. That will be another milestone in her life and I cried buckets coz it feels like she's now a big girl and I am slowly but surely, losing my baby. But mind you, those were happy tears and we praise God for her faith and without any shadow of doubt, am encouraged to know that Sam's in safe hands with the Lord as her mentor and guide.
